Trade fair/shows in China

Why attend the china fair:

Fairs have been a best place for sourcing all kinds of products for companies home and abroad. Fairs in China attract millions of attendees home and abroad every year. If you are looking to buy products from China, or need a factory to manufacture your product, the best way to meet a large number of manufacturers and factory representatives in a short amount of time is attending one of China's major trade fairs.

Every year there are thousands of fairs or shows being held in China, including comprehensive fairs like Canton Fair almost covering all kinds of industry, and professional fairs of one industry . You should study your product first and choose the right one to attend to avoid unnecessary cost. Here I listed several influencial fairs in China:

1. Canton Fair (Guangzhou)
Canton Fair, also known as the China Import and Export Fair, is the largest, most important trade fair in China. It's held twice a year in spring and fall at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. Last year's fair featured over 22,000 exhibitors and attracted more than 200,000 international buyers.
Virtually all major Chinese manufacturers are represented here. Most speak English but you may still find it useful to hire one of the interpreters that line up at the entrance. Try not to judge suppliers by how good their English language skills might be, the factories that don't have English-speaking representatives might have better pricing.

2. Yiwu International Commodities Fair (Yiwu)
Yiwu is located in Zhejiang Province, about 3 hours from Shanghai by train. The fair takes place in October every year. It's the third largest exhibition sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Last year Yiwu Fair featured more than 3,000 exhibitors and attracted over 110,000 buyers and traders including about 17,000 from overseas.
Yiwu has a reputation as the place to go for low order quantities. Most products are cheaper with lower quality too. Nonetheless, if you need festive, promotional or budget products, Yiwu Fair is a good place to source. I have found good factories at this fair, especially ones that specialize in crystalware, for which Yiwu is famous. A lot of domestic buyers visit Yiwu and English is not as widely spoken as at some other trade fairs.
